Scuba diving locations: the 3 most beautiful in the world

Diving is a fun sport and a great excuse to get out there and check out some of the most beautiful destinations around the world. Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned expert, you’re going to be excited by what you see in the most well-kept depths of the oceans in the world’s most popular dive spots.

When it comes to diving spots, there are plenty around the world, and it can feel a little bit daunting and overwhelming trying to choose which ones are your favorite. They’re all so cool, and the beautiful part is that just about every coast in the world has its own unique dive spot to boast about. Well, we can tell you for sure it’s not easy to pick the 10 best, let alone three best diving spots in the world. However, if we had to, the ones below would be our favorite picks. Here are the three most beautiful scuba diving locations around the world, courtesy of the Oahu Dive Co.

The Great Blue Hole

A very wide and very deep hole that is surrounded by some of the most beautiful coral reefs you have ever seen and makes a home for sharks on the inside. The warm water above is a cool light blue with great 30-meter visibility. From the surface of the water, you can see an even cooler and darker blue where the deep blue hole begins. The water begins to shimmer and waver as it transitions from salty to fresh at the 15-meter level.

The Great Blue Hole is a massive sinkhole that was created when a limestone cave system collapsed many thousands of years ago. It lies near the Lighthouse Reef in Belize and is a perfect circle of deep and dark blue.

Watching the pelagics and tuna dive into the hole to perform their cleaning rituals is one of the greatest experiences you will ever have. If you go 25 meters deeper, you also get to see the stalagmites and stalactites of the ancient limestone caverns.

The Yongala

Many top lists of scuba diving spots will only give you lists of natural locations. Not many will you give you an exciting and adventurous shipwreck to explore. That’s what the Yongala is: a shipwreck off the coast of Queensland, Australia.

The ship sank in 1911 during a cyclone and took the lives of 122 people with it. Among the fatalities included a Lincolnshire bull and a racehorse named Moonshine.

The reasons the ship sank is that there weren’t any telegraph facilities on the ship and, therefore, couldn’t be warned in advance of the cyclone ahead. The wreck was officially protected in 1981 by the Historic Shipwrecks Act and is 10 kilometers from Cape Bowling Green and 90 kilometers southeast of Townville. It’s 109 meters (350 feet) long with the bow facing north and the ship listing to starboard.

The wreck isn’t just about history, however, as you can see plenty of different marine life that have made a home in the wreck, including coral, clouds of various fish, tiger sharks, bull sharks, turtles, octopuses, sea snakes and manta rays.

Manta Ray Night Dive

Have you ever seen the spectacular manta rays of Kona, Hawaii? Well, you should. They tend to get attracted to the near-infinite plankton that converge around the underwater lights placed on the ocean floor of the night dive. It’s an exhilarating experience because the rays come close to the divers. Sometimes, you have to move out of the way so that they don’t end up hitting you. If you want to spend your time with some of the most beautiful animals in the oceans of our world, This is the place to go. It also helps that it is one of the best diving spots to visit in the world.
