Barbados Packing List: The Essentials

Barbados is a Caribbean paradise and a perfect antidote to the stress of everyday life. With it’s beautiful warm temperatures all year round, you’ll be glad you decided to visit this tranquil island. This Barbados packing list will make sure you have everything you need, so you don’t have a thing to worry about during your dream vacation.

Barbados Packing List

This Barbados Packing List includes essentials that you should take on your dream vacation. One thing to note is that it’s advisable not to take army/combat styled clothing as this is illegal in Barbados. Happy packing!

1. Beach Essentials

Travelers to the island of Barbados will want to spend as much time as possible on one of its many glorious beaches, as well as in the sparkling water that surrounds the country. You will need to make sure you pack these essential items:

Beach Bag
Swimwear
Sunhats – Widebrim
Sunblock
Beach towels
Comfortable sandals
A cover-up (Sundress/Kaftan)
Mask and Snorkel

2. Waterproofs

Yes it rains in Barbados, more about that later. So pack clothing that dries quickly and items that will keep you dry. as well as a light raincoat usually comes in handy during a visit to Barbados. Rain showers happen frequently, so a little extra protection avoids the need to return to the house for a change of clothing.

3. Camera

Barbados has some beautiful scenery. You’re going to want to snap shots of those crystal clear blue waters and white sandy beaches.
If your smartphone takes good shots then great, if you want something more technical then take a camera that suits. You may want to consider a water resistance case too.

4. A Tote Bag

One of the most useful items for for many occasions is a basic tote bag. You can take it to the beach, shopping or use it as a general bag to keep your personal items. The great thing about a tote bag is it is easy to pack away, lightweight and versatile.



5. Clothing

Pack light coloured clothing to protect you from the sun, as this will discourage the sun rays from over heating you. Lightweight clothing is advisable as temperatures can sore in Barbados, especially in the peak summer months. Loose fitted shirts, trousers, skirts and tanks are advisable. Nights can be cooler so you may benefit from taking something to cover your shoulders, such as a shawl. There are sometimes mosquitoes in Barbados so be sure to cover up when they are around.

6. Accessories and Extras

Other items you may find useful to carry in Barbados are; a water bottle, sunglasses, plug adaptor, electronic items and chargers, toiletries, books, wallet, gym wear, first aid kit, insect reppelant, jewellery, accommodation and transport documents, money, wallet, credit cards and don’t forget that all important passport and travel insurance!

Now you’ve got your packing sorted, here are a few tips to get you going on your dream vacation to Barbados.

1. Reserve Luxury Accommodation

Some people prefer to book the cheapest option, which may be a hotel room, however if money is not a worry, you may wish to splash out on something more luxurious like a stylish house or apartment.

2. Prepare for Rain

Although Barbados has beautiful warm temperatures, it also has a rainy season that typically runs from June until November. With this in mind, be sure to pack what you need to keep you dry and consider this when planning what activities you’d like to do during your trip. It may not be ideal to go during the rainy season if you plan on visiting this beautiful country to rest on the beaches all day.

3. Plan to Spend

Bring plenty of cash or credit cards. We all love a budget vacation now and then, but Barbados has too much temptation. With many things to do and lots to buy, you won’t want to feel restricted. Shop for seasonings, sweets, and rum because the island offers unique choices that make great gifts and tasty souvenirs. Some of the best souvenirs will be found at local native craft stalls.
