3 Reasons people keep coming back to Palm Cove

There are some holiday destinations that keep people coming back time and time again. Sometimes it’s because there are so many activities and experiences to have, sometimes it’s because the destination itself is so beautiful and alluring.

One of these holiday destinations is Palm Cove in Tropical North Queensland. Located along Australia’s east coast, Palm Cove is a gorgeous seaside village lined with palm trees with the coral sea lapping at its shoreline.

It also happens to be in a prime location to be able to discover and explore two of the world’s most iconic natural attractions – the Wet Tropics Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.

This combined with the tropical paradise setting makes Palm Cove the perfect holiday destination.

If you’re planning a holiday, don’t look past this stunning Queensland destination because there is so much to do when you’re here. Here are four of the best activities you can experience in Palm Cove.

1. Get up close and personal with the Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is arguably the biggest drawcard for visitors to Queensland. And it’s no wonder. The Reef is an incredible and unique environmental wonder that offers people so many different ways to experience.

Made up of more than 3000 individual reef systems and covering an area of more than 348,000 square kilometres, you can see the reef from above and below the surface of the water.

If you want to stay dry, you can see how great it actually is from the comfort of a helicopter; if you don’t mind the chance of getting a little bit wet, you can discover the wonder from the comfort of a glass bottomed boat ride; and if you want to discover it from below the surface you can snorkel or scuba dive at a variety of different locations.

If you’ve never tried snorkeling or diving, that’s ok, there are plenty of tour options that cater for first timers – and there really is no other way to discover the reef that compares to this.

2. Soar above the Rainforest Canopy

Only a short distance from Palm Cove, you can discover an amazing rainforest village that sits atop a mountain – Kuranda. The village itself is gorgeous and full of fun activities and exploration opportunities, including the Heritage Markets.

And while Kuranda is a fantastic place to visit, one of the best parts of visiting this village is actually the journey. You can travel two and from Kuranda in some of the most unique ways out there.

We recommend taking the journey up to the village via the Kuranda Scenic Railway, which is a gorgeous vintage train journey that offers unbeatable views of the rainforest and Barron Gorge – a spectacular waterfall.

For the journey down from Kuranda, we highly recommend jumping into a gondola on the Kuranda Cableway. You’ll be able to soar above the canopy of the rainforest and see the sights from new heights. And if you’re not too phased by heights, might we recommend jumping in one of the glass bottomed gondolas for a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.

3. Get loose at the Reef House

Exploration can be exhausting, so what better way than to put your feet up at a Palm Cove luxury accommodation destination like the Reef House.

The Reef House is renowned as one of the most incredible boutique hotel destinations in Australia, and its enviable beachfront location instantly makes you feel relaxed and at ease.

In addition to its amazing location and five-star facilities, the Reef House is also home to an award-winning restaurant that offers a wide variety of dishes made from the freshest local produce.

Even more luxurious than the location and delightful cuisine is the day spa.

People travel far and wide for the Reef House Day Spa, and when you stay at the Reef House it’s in your own backyard. Make the most of your time there with a couple’s massage, a facial, or even a manicure. The treatment options are endless.

There’s a reason why people love visiting Palm Cove in Queensland, so make sure you get a chance to experience everything it has to offer for yourself!
