A classic road trip in the USA is a dream for most and it’s easy to see why. The US has something for those who prefer the coast or love a hike in the mountains, as well as many fun vibrant cities.

These road trip destinations will inspire anyone looking for adventure in their own campervan or rental minivan, covering a range of places to inspire all.

San Francisco to Utah

This route is great as it contains marvelous cities and nature traveling rolled in one. For those who don’t live in Frisco, it may be just a pit stop on the route. If so, it’s recommended to spend at least one day exploring the city. This bustling place offers sparkling views of the Golden Gate bridge from the Bay Area, the best hipster cafes in the Hayes Valley, and a trip to Alcatraz is not to be missed.

After a day in San Franсisco, head towards Lake Tahoe, it’s a great place for hiking, kayaking, and cycling to enjoy the alpine views of the Sierra Nevada mountains. This website provides a great choice of minivans for those who need a place to stay outdoors with maximum comfort. Yosemite National park is a great stop for those passing that area after San Francisco, especially for those who are fond of waterfalls and giant sequoias.

To make the most of a minivan rental, head up to the driest and the hottest national park in the US, Death Valley. This hosts the famous Salt Flats, a range of wildlife and some phenomenal landscapes.

From here, the route leads to Las Vegas, Sin City of the desert, with lots of fun to be had. The road from Vegas to Utah is full of picturesque canyons and destinations, including, Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Torrey, Moab, and finally Salt Lake City. Chicago to New Orleans

This is a musically themed route from North to South passing the heart of America through six different states. Point A is Chicago at the north of Illinois, then the next stop at the south of this state in St.Louis, Lincoln’s birthplace. Next, the road passes Montana and you can make a stop in Memphis, where blues, jazz, and rock’n’roll were born. It is also the home city of Elvis.

Move your car rental to the banks of the Mississippi River, where you may enjoy creole cuisine in the restaurants of Natchez. It is only 3 hours from a spectacular New Orleans, which is considered a foodie paradise for many Americans.

The Blue Ridge Parkway

This 469-mile road is said to be best enjoyed in Autumn. Fall colors are marvelous when you rent a minivan and follow the Blue Ridge Parkway from the Shenandoah Park in the Appalachian Mountains, Virginia, to the Smoky Mountains National Park located in the state of North Carolina. The road turns and twists in the mountains, and the sides are covered with red, yellow, and golden trees. There are many picturesque waterfalls, hiking trails, and stunning views of the Appalachian mountains to be embraced. The aim of this route is the road through the Virginian countryside, not the final destination. The road is limited in speed to 45 mph, so it is great to enjoy the sights on road.

From Jackson, Wyoming to Glacier, Montana

This road is not very long and the drive can be made without a single stop, but it would be a great mistake, especially when one can travel through Yellowstone National Park to arrive from point A to point B. The volcanic landscape of Yellowstone along with different surprises on each corner of the route would excite any traveler. Weeks could be spent here alone and there are plenty of camping spots available.

The Big Sky Country is a place where it’s possible to spend a week in the rental minivan and observe all the natural beauties that are met along the way. This route includes racing rivers of the Grand Tetons, steep cliffs of the mountains, glacial formations, and dramatic waterfalls.

Overseas Highway. From Miami to Key West

This route has an iconic 1st number and it goes from legendary Miami to Key West far away at the Gulf of Mexico. It is often called the Overseas Highway, and the road really goes over the ocean on the built 42 bridges. The entire road is 150 miles and it may take 4 hours to cover this distance. The Keys are the islands that create a chain from Miami to the western one, Key West. It would be interesting to visit a Coral Reef Park at the Pennekamp, and Dolphin Research Center at Key Largo. The Keys are famous for their lime pie and fried conch.

This is a scenic drive also known as the Outer Banks Scenic Highway with the official name being Route 12. It was partially destroyed by hurricanes that washed away parts of the road. The road goes from Bodie Lighthouse which is located at the north, right along to the south of the state. It passes small islands that protect the state from the Atlantic ocean. Most of them are destroyed now. This route includes many historical sights, such as Hatteras Lighthouse, Pea Island Wildlife Refuge, and the Oregon Inlet.
